Psychedelic Assisted Therapies

Description

Megan Begley, LCSW

Megan's  interest in holistic behavioral health practices first developed twenty-five years ago when she began using nutritional approaches, yoga, Eastern spiritual philosophy, 12 Step, and distance running to overcome mental health challenges. Megan completed a Masters in Social Work at the University of Kentucky in 2009, returning to school after a decade to pursue a helping profession, and is credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  Clinical social workers train to work specifically as mental health treatment practitioners,  but with a theoretical orientation in social systems and social justice.  Megan's previous experience includes correctional mental health intervention, outpatient community mental health treatment, Hospice grief counseling, and over five years as an opioid addiction therapist in medication-assisted treatment. She has training in clinical hypnotherapy, EMDR Therapy, EFT Tapping, Sensorimotor Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy, and Mental Health Nutrition.

Ketamine can be used as a passive treatment for rapid, but temporary alleviation of depression or anxiety. KAP, on the other hand, uses the dissociative, psychedelic-like benefits of ketamine to boost a unique therapy approach designed for deep ego work. Symptoms and self-sabotage patterns are revealed as coping mechanisms that can be peeled back, in reverse order, to heal core wounds. Unlike psychedelic use with vague expectations and outcomes, KAP simplifies a lifetime of issues into one framework and intention for foundational change. Time and focus is needed for this to unfold, so think of this as a program vs urgent treatment.
