This presentation will give an overview of Eating Disorders included in the DSM IV. Diagnosis, Biological factors along with Environmental factors will be examined, The current accepted treatment modalities will be explored.
Attendees will:
be able to differentiate between the different presentations of eating issues
identify when hospitalization/residential treatment are indicated
gain a deeper understanding of the effect of trauma in EDOs
develop a trauma informed plan for treatment
Received BSN, MSN , University of Cincinnati. Graduated from UK with MSW and PhD in Clinical Social Work. Has worked and been on Faculty in the Department of Psychiatry at UK since 1993. Her practice began with a focus on trauma and evolved into a focus on patients with Eating Disorders. Teaches and supervises Social Work students and graduates along with Interns and Residents in the Department of Psychiatry. Teaches First Year Medical Students and is a member of the Admissions Committee for UKCOM. Currently serves on the Board of the Kentucky Clinical Social Work Society.
