Workshop Summary

Kristen P. Mark, PhD, MPH
Associate Professor of Health Promotion, Director of the Sexual Health Promotion Lab, Clinical Fellow in Couples Therapy, University of Kentucky

This presentation will detail the latest science in sexual desire discrepancy. Sexual desire discrepancy, when one member of the couple has lower or higher sexual desire than the other, has been associated with lower sexual and relationship satisfaction, yet is incredibly common (perhaps inevitable) in long-term romantic relationships. We will discuss the research that has been conducted to date in this area and the clinical implications of this work including specific strategies clinicians can suggest to clients who struggle with this dynamic.
