Sex Therapy: Bonding Science and Embodiment in the Bedroom through Couples Therapy

Coralie McEachron is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and is working towards becoming a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). Coralie earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Sexuality and Gender Studies from The Pennsylvania State University, and went on to earn a Master of Science in Social Work with a specialization in Couple’s and Family Therapy from The University of Louisville. She later completed a one-year post-graduate certificate program through The University of Michigan in Sex Therapy and Sex Education. Coralie’s approach to treatment is strengths-based and holistic. She utilizes an experiential and postmodern lens, meaning that she honors the expertise and authentic voice that each client brings to treatment, as well as working to explore feelings and experiences firsthand in the room in order to promote change. She is trained in Level I Internal Family Systems; Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and externship and Core Skills 1-4 for Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for Couples, and is pursuing certification for the above-mentioned. Particularly with sex therapy, Coralie works to incorporate the values most important to her clients, as well as expand those belief systems that may be overly rigid or limiting, all within a safe and nurturing environment. With this presentation, Coralie is excited to teach and share fundamentals of sex therapy, especially through the lens of embodiment, and get to help participants increase their comfort and confidence with incorporating tenets of sexuality, intimacy, and desire into their therapy practices.
